Leland S. “Lee” Greenberg of Haverhill, passed away at his home Nov. 13, with his wife at his side after a long battle with Parkinson’s and dementia. He was the first child of the late Norman Greenberg and Frances Schwartz Bix.
Greenberg was born and raised in Ipswich, and graduated from Ipswich High School in 1959, after which he worked in the auto salvage business, a family-based business for three generations, located in Ipswich. Later in years, he became the division sales manager for Investors Diversified Services in Boston, selling mutual funds and investment planning. He also worked for many insurance companies selling life and health insurance. He started his own insurance company in the late 1980s, American Plans, which he operated for a numbers of years. He also worked for the Archdiocese of Boston where he sold crypts for mausoleums, until he created a business called Automotive Training Seminars, selling education classes, educating mechanics on how to repair Ford, Chrysler and GM products.
Greenberg met and married his wife, Karen from Haverhill in 1975. They were married for 41 years. Besides his wife, he leaves behind five children, Heidi Guarino of North Andover, Jennifer Capes and her husband, Nicolas of Las Vegas, Nev., Steven Greenberg and his wife, Darlene of Salisbury, David Greenberg of New Bern, N.C., and Ada Greenberg of Haverhill; sister, Ellen Bushner and her late husband, Norman Bushner of Newburyport; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
His wife, Karen, and daughter, Heidi express their gratitude to Beacon Hospice for devoted care and service. At the request of his family a private funeral service will be held at a later date.
