Robert H. Casey, 89, Served on U.S.S. Joseph P. Kennedy

Robert H. Casey, 89, passed away Nov. 8, at Academy Manor in Andover. He was the husband of the late Lorraine E. (Reynolds) Casey.

Born in Boston July 12, 1927, he was the son of the late William E. and Hazel M. (Emery) Casey. He was educated in New Hampshire, and graduated from Nute High School in Milton, N.H. He then entered the U.S. Navy where he served as a machinist mate third class onboard the destroyer U.S.S. Joseph P. Kennedy (DD-850) before his honorable discharge in 1947. He then entered New Hampshire Technical School. He worked as a tool and die maker for various job shops before joining Brush Wellman, Newburyport. He was a member of West Congregational Church where he served as deacon, and was a member of the American Legion.

Besides his first wife, Grace (Horne) Casey, he is survived by his daughters, Denise Tobey of Kittery, Maine, Bridget Casey of Exeter, N.H.; step-daughter, Marcia Baker and her husband Jeffrey of Strong, Maine; grandchildren, Christopher Grant and his wife Bonny of Livermore, Maine, Jamie Brown and her husband Mike of Westbrook, Maine, Scott Tobey and Michael Bates, both of Dover, N.H., Kristen Bates of Cape Neddick, Maine; 13 great grandchildren; brother, William Casey and his wife Carol of New Hampshire; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joseph Casey, Emily Bunker and Marie Titcomb.

The family thanked to the Veterans Administration and nurses and staff of Home Health Care Services and All Care Services.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service Saturday, Nov. 19, at 10 a.m., at West Congregational Church. Internment, with military honors, follows at Hillside Cemetery.
