Katherine (Methenitis) Fanaras, 101, Worked at Sub Shops

katherine_fanarasKatherine (Methenitis) Fanaras, 101, of Haverhill, died Thursday night, Nov. 3, at Holy Family Hospital at Merrimack Valley, Haverhill.

A lifelong resident of the city, Fanaras was born in Haverhill, Oct. 21, 1915, daughter of the late Andrew and Angelina (Pappas) Methenitis and was educated in the Haverhill school system. For more than 30 years she was employed in the local shoe shops, and after her retirement assisted her son with his sub shops in Haverhill.

She was the wife of the late William E. Fanaras who died in 1976 and her survivors include two sons, Andrew Fanaras of Haverhill, and William Fanaras and his wife Vivian of Haverhill; daughter, June Timmons and her husband Edward of Haverhill; three grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. at H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Her funeral service takes place Thursday, Nov. 10, 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial is in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave., Waltham, MA 02451, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
