A driver whose car flipped over on Water Street suffered minor injuries Saturday.
Police say solar glare could be to blame in an accident that injured a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
Haverhill police Lt. Robert P. Pistone told WHAV that a pedestrian was struck on Friday afternoon at the intersection of River and Beach streets. The victim, whom police did not identify, remains hospitalized in serious condition in a Boston hospital, Pistone said.
The accident is still under investigation. The driver has not been charged.
As WHAV reported Monday afternoon, the victim was treated at the scene by Haverhill Fire Department rescue crews before being transported to Lawrence General Hospital and later flown to Boston, according to Haverhill Fire Chief William F. Laliberty. An engine unit from High Street station also responded to the accident scene.
Meanwhile, fire rescue and pumper units from the Water Street station assisted at the scene of a single-vehicle rollover crash Saturday at 6:59 p.m. at the intersection of Water and Groveland streets. One person with minor injuries was taken to Holy Family Hospital, Haverhill, Laliberty said. He did not identify the individual. Police continue to investigate the accident.
