It’s an election tradition as predictable as lawn signs, but state Rep. Brian S. Dempsey’s Annual Pre-Election Breakfast this Sunday focuses on downtown Haverhill’s progress.

Dempsey, Democratic chairman of the House Ways and Committee, will have his Annual Pre-Election Breakfast Nov. 6, from 9 to 11, at AmVets Post 147, 576 Primrose St. While various candidates for public office will likely make last minute pitches, hand out bumper stickers and shake hands, this year’s breakfast celebrates the opening of Haverhill’s downtown Harbor Place.

“Successfully securing state funds for this project and facilitating the satellite campus of the University of Massachusetts Lowell in Harbor Place are some of my proudest achievements of my career,” Dempsey said in a letter. “As an alumnus of the university, I have always been interested in the possibility of the world-renowned institution locating in Haverhill.”

Tickets are available at the door.
