Gladys (Alter) Manaster, 91, of Lynn, and formerly of Haverhill, passed away Saturday, Oct. 29, at Abbott House, Lynn.
She was born in Haverhill Nov. 13, 1924, daughter of the late Samuel and Dora (Freedman) Alter. She was educated in the Haverhill schools, graduating from Haverhill High School with the class of 1942. She was employed as an administrative assistant in the computer department of Stone and Webster of Boston, retiring in 1989. She enjoyed arts and crafts and handcrafted jewelry as a hobby.
She is survived by her sons Lee M. Manaster and his wife Joan of Tenafly, N.J., and Robert J. Manaster of Lynn; five grandchildren, Christopher, Alexandra, Julie, Elizabeth and Gregory; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Estelle Erbstein and Burton Alter.
At the family’s request, funeral services and interment in the Children of Israel Cemetery will be private. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill and Bradford. Contributions in her memory may be made to the charity if the donor’s choice.
