Annie A. (DiPietro) Russo, 96, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, at her residence.
She was born in Haverhill, July 3, 1920, daughter of the late Liborio A. and Maria D. (Cieri) DiPietro. Russo was educated in the Haverhill schools and was employed as an auditor at the former AT&T for 16 years until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of the former St. Rita’s Church in Haverhill, the Legion of Mary, the Telephone Pioneers of America and Communication Workers of America Local #1366.
She was the wife of the late Sereno P. “Cy” Russo, who passed away Dec. 7, 1995, and is survived by her son Leonard A. Russo and his wife Margaret of Haverhill; sister Edna DiPietro of Haverhill; grandchildren Emily and Jonathan Russo; caretakers Brad Merrill and Wendy Bland; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Clinton H. and Domenic DiPietro and Mary DelGrosso.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours Tuesday, Nov. 1, from 4- to 7 p.m., at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St. Haverhill. Her funeral will be Wednesday, Nov. 2, beginning at 9 a.m., at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. James Church, Winter St. Haverhill. Interment follows in St. James Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St. Bldg. #9, Lawrence, MA 01843 or to St. Joseph’s Grammar School, 56 Oak Terrace, Haverhill, MA 01832.
