Russell E. “Monk” Bailey, 77, Worked at Foss, Groveland Fence

russell_baileyRussell E. “Monk” Bailey, 77, of Haverhill, husband of Barbara A. (Palen) Bailey, passed away Oct.r 23, at Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill, surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in the Acre section of Haverhill, he was the son of the late Kenneth C. and Marie Regina (Comeau) Bailey. He attended Haverhill Public Schools and was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School, class of 1957. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving from 1957 and receiving his honorable discharge in 1961. For many years he was employed by Groveland Fence Company, and later, Foss Manufacturing Company, Ward Hill, in the shipping and receiving department for more than 25 years. The “Monk” was always on the move and enjoyed road trips to Foxwoods.

He leaves his wife of 47 years, Barbara A. (Palen) Bailey of Haverhill; son, Michael E. Bailey and his wife Keri A. (Gostanian) of Haverhill; daughter, Kim M. Kinney and her husband Scott A. of Derry, N.H.; brother Carl Bailey and his wife Frances of Merrimac; sister, Judy A. Playdon and her husband John of Bradford; two grandchildren, Scott A. Kinney Jr. and Lauren M. Kinney; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Leslie Tidd.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours Sunday, Oct. 30, from 8:45 to 10:45 a.m., at Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. A mass will be offered in his memory following at 11, at All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Ave. Haverhill. Donations may be made in his memory to Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 North Avenue, Haverhill, MA 01830.
