Anita Brindis, 90, Golf Club Champion

anita_brindisAnita Brindis, 90, a lifetime resident of Haverhill, Mass, passed away peacefully Saturday Oct. 22 in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.

Anita and her husband Leslie moved to Arizona two years ago to be with their son and daughter-in-law Sam and Renee Brindis. She was born in Boston, March 17, 1926. and was the daughter of the late William and Bessie Ornsteen. She was raised and attended schools in Haverhill, after which she attended the University of New Hampshire. She was married, made her home, and raised her children in Haverhill. She was an avid golfer and was club champion at one time in her golfing days at Haverhill Golf and Country Club. She was a lifetime member of Hadassah as well as being very active with various women’s groups.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Edward Ornsteen, her son William, and her husband Leslie. She is survived by her son Sam (Renee) of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; daughter Bonnie (Kevin) Gilsenan of Manlius N.Y.; daughter-in-law Genia Brindis of Haverhill; grandchildren Jason Brindis, Cazz Brindis of Los Angeles, Calif., Reed Hollinger of Fort Collins, Colo., Zachary Hollinger of Syracuse, N.Y., Eve Brindis of Portland, Ore., and Jacob Brindis of Haverhill. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her graveside service Friday, Oct. 28, 11 a.m., at Children of Israel Cemetery, Haverhill, Mass. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill and Bradford. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
