Updated: Derry, N.H., Woman, 60, Injured in Andover I-495 Crash

A 60-year-old Derry, N.H., woman was hospitalized in Boston with serious injuries after a two-vehicle crash this morning, involving a tractor trailer truck, on Interstate 495 southbound in Andover.

A Massachusetts State Police spokesperson told WHAV the unidentified woman was taken to Lawrence General Hospital following the 6:22 a.m. crash, just south of the Interstate 93 interchange. She was later transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston. She was the driver and lone occupant of a Toyota Corolla involved in the accident. The truck driver, a 65-year-old New Hampshire man, was not injured.

The accident closed the two left lanes of southbound travel on I-495 and all lanes were reopened at about 8:45 a.m. It also caused traffic delays in the area during the morning commute.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by State Police out of Andover barracks and by a police commercial vehicle enforcement unit.
