James A. Favor, 79, Carpenter

james_favorJames A. Favor, 79, of Haverhill passed away peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 11,with his family by his side.

He was born in Mount Willing, Ala., Oct. 13, 1936, son of the late Alex R. and Lucille (Holladay) Favor. He graduated from Hayneville, Ala., high school, and was a U.S. Army veteran . He was a member of the Charles C. Dame Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Georgetown, Aleppo Shriners, Haverhill Commandry #14, Haverhill Council and Pentucket chapter and was past Worthy Patron of the O.E.S. Fidelity Chapter #90 in Haverhill. Favor was a highly skilled, self-employed carpenter who spent his entire career building homes and providing detailed, intricate finish work throughout the area.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandra A. (Arakelian) Favor of Haverhill, who never left his side; children, Bryan J. and his wife Robin Favor of Groveland and Cheryl A. Favor of Bradford; three grandchildren, Michelle, Bryanna and Kasey Favor; brother Robert Favor and his wife Elizabeth of Montgomery, Ala.; sisters Mary Hooks of Montgomery and Warene Parrish of Alabama; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late John, Reid, William and Maxine.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours Sunday, Oct. 16, from 1 to 2:45 p.m., at H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. His funeral service follows at 3 p.m., at the funeral home. At the request of the family, the interment with military honors will be private in the Riverview Cemetery, Groveland.
