John “Chuck” Kahigian, 86, Korean War Veteran

John “Chuck” Kahigian, 86, of Middletown, Del., formerly of Haverhill, died peacefully at his home on Oct. 4, 2016.

Born March 22, 1930 in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Zakar and Hiagunoosh (Tomasian) Kahigian. he graduated from Haverhill schools and served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed at the former Western Electric for 33 years prior to his retirement. Kahigian enjoyed the horses at Delaware Park as well as the many “road trips” to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., with his wife Nancy. He will be remembered by his grandsons as “gee.”

In addition to his parents, hewas preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Nancy (Brown) Kahigian; brothers, Markas and Sarkis; sister, Twanda (Kahigian) Garabedian. Kahigian is survived by his daughters, Dr. Gaynelle Kahigian (Dr. Helen Garton) of Middletown, Del., Gale Donovan (David) of Old Orchard Beach, Maine; twin grandsons, Matthew and Kyle Donovan, of Greenville, N.C.; and his favorite nephew, Peter Kahigian (Elaine) of Haverhill.

Relative and friends are invited to the funeral Tuesday, Oc. 11, at 1 p.m. at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill. Calling hours will precede the funeral from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment to follow at Linwood Cemetery.
