Joseph A. Venezia, 90, World War II Veteran

Joseph A. Venezia, 90, of Amesbury, former longtime resident of Haverhill, passed peacefully Saturday, Oct. 1, at Maplewood Center in Amesbury.

Born in Haverhill, July 29, 1926, he was the only child of Antonio and Philomena (Arnese ) Venezia and was a graduate of Haverhill High School. For many years he worked in Haverhill’s thriving shoe industry. Venezia was a proud World War II veteran, having served with the United States Army from Dec. 19, 1944 until his honorable Oct. 14, 1946 with the rank of private first class. He was also the recipient of the Army of Occupation Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

A graveside service takes place at St. James Cemetery, 360 Primrose St., Haverhill, Tuesday, Oct. 11, 11:30 a.m. Arrangements are by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 334 Main St., Haverhill.
