William McGregor Blynn, 93, World War II Veteran, City Hall Custodian

bill_blynnWilliam McGregor Blynn, 93, of Haverhill passed away Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Merrimack Valley Hospice House.

He was born in New Brunswick, Canada, Aug. 17, 1923, son of the late Charles J. and Josephine (Boudreau) Blynn. He was educated in Haverhill Schools, attending Haverhill Trade. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He was employed at the Fall River Ship Yard for several years, Fifth Avenue Shoe for 18 years and retired in 1986 as the head custodian for the City of Haverhill. He was a life-member of Disabled American Veterans and American Legion in Haverhill. He loved all animals and enjoyed dancing.

Blynn was the husband of the late Barbara L. (Sargent) Blynn and father of the late Douglas L. Blynn. He is survived by his children Allen J. and Melanie of N. Fryeburg, Maine, Michael P. of Haverhill, and Dawn M. Blynn of Haverhill; sister Arlene Guay of Florida; seven grandchildren, A. James and his wife Deborah, Rebecca and her husband Rob, Katie, James, Phillip, Douglas and his wife Julianne and Daniel and his wife Antoinette; six great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Leonard Blynn and Frances Forbes.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours Monday, Oct. 10, from 5 to 7 p.m., at H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St. (route 125), Bradford. His funeral service will be Tuesday, Oct. 11, 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow in the Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. Contributions in his memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
