Downtown Travelers Face Detour at Harbor Place

Daytime street closures and local traffic restrictions on the eastern end of Merrimack Street, downtown Haverhill, for the ongoing Harbor Place construction project continue today and next Thursday, Oct. 13.

Harbor Place general contractor Dellbrook Construction’s request for the latest closure to thru traffic between the Herbert H. Goecke Memorial Parking Deck and Main Street will allow local traffic only to the lower parking deck area, according to Haverhill Economic Development and Planning Director William Pillsbury. Detours continue onto How Street and Bailey Boulevard for Merrimack Street thru traffic between Washington Square and Main Street.

As previously reported by WHAV, local access to abutting Merrimack Street businesses has been maintained since the recurring construction and utility-related street closures for the Harbor Place project began in March. Last month, Dellbrook Senior Construction Superintendent Al Nassar had told Pillsbury, by e-mail, the traffic disruptions “should be coming to an end shortly.”
