Ruth A. (Wheeler) Boucher, 90, passed away peacefully Sept. 23, at Penacook Place.
She was the wife of the late Victor H. Boucher, to whom she was married for 65 years. Born in North Adams, March 29, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Helen V. (Mullette) Wheeler.
Boucher was educated in Florida, Mass., graduated from Drury High School, North Adams, class of 1945, and received a 4-H Leadership Certificate from UMASS Extension Service. During World War II, she was a civilian plane spotter and earned Army-Navy Production Awards from Sprague Electric Company. She also worked in retail sales at the Boston Store as well as being an award-winning sales representative for Sarah Coventry, Dutchmaid and Avon. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Adams for nearly 70 years where she served as a Life Deacon, financial secretary, superintendent and teacher of Christian education. Known for her love of square and round dancing she served as president of both the Hairpin Turners and Cheshire Stompers and Instructor of the Melody Rounders.
Boucher is survived by her children, Rev. Charles Boucher and his wife Cherryl of Antrim, N.H., and their children, Elissa, Joshua, Kevin and Rebecca, Dr. Kevin Boucher and his wife Sandy of Pomfret, Conn., and their children, Kathryn, Sarah, Adam and Laura, and Cheryl and her husband Rev. Mark Michel of Haverhill, and their children, Rachel, Joanna and Andrew. She was predeceased by her son Bruce Boucher of Enfield, Conn., and leaves Bruce’s former wife Elaine and their children Steven and Jaime. She was predeceased by her brothers William, James and John Wheeler along with her sister, June LePage. She also leaves 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church, North Adams, on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 11 am. Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m., in Florida Baptist Church Cemetery, Florida, Mass.
