Voters May Cast Ballots Up to Two Weeks Before Election Day

Voters may cast ballots as much as two weeks before the Tuesday, Nov. 8, state and presidential election.

Haverhill City Clerk Linda L. Koutoulas said early voting in Haverhill runs from Monday, Oct. 24, through Friday, Nov. 4, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the basement of Haverhill City Hall, 4 Summer St.; Saturday, Oct. 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Haverhill City Hall, High Street Fire station, 123 High St., Bradford Fire Station, 486 South Main St., and rear of the Department of Public Works, 500 Primrose St.; and Thursday, Nov. 3, from 4 to 8 p.m., in the basement of City Hall.

“You need to be a registered voter in Haverhill to vote early and, unlike regular absentee voting, need not have an excuse or reason to do so. Once you have voted, your ballot will be secured in a locked vault and delivered to your regular polling location on election day to be counted,” Koutoulas said.

The Massachusetts legislature approved early voting in 2014. It is allowed every two years before the state election.

Voters may check their voter status online at sec.state.ma.us. Inactive voters must provide identification or proof of residence when voting. The deadline to register to vote in the November election is Wednesday, Oct. 19th.  The clerk’s office will be open until 8 p.m. Residents may also mail in registrations. Forms may be downloaded from the city clerk website or, if requested, forms may be mailed. Application must be postmarked by Oct. 19 to be processed for this election.

Residents may also register to vote online if they have a Massachusetts driver’s license at sec.state.ma.us/ovr.
