Team Haverhill’s River Ruckus takes place Saturday, from noon to 8:30 p.m., beginning with a classic car show and ending with a fireworks display over the Merrimack River.
In between, events include Zumba high-energy dance; a “Kids Zone” with games, contests, arts and crafts, among other things; a beer and wine garden; “A Taste of Haverhill,” featuring food from local restaurants and vendors; Haverhill Art Market; live concerts; and a 50/50 cash raffle.
All events take place at Riverfront Park in Haverhill’s Riverfront Cultural District and Washington Street. Washington Street will be closed to all traffic from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Band performances include Gretchen & The Pickpockets, Seth Wonkka, Brad Byrd, Amy & The Engine, Ruby Rose Fox and The Alternate Routes.
Participating food vendors include The Chicken Connection, Carter’s Ice Cream, Casa Blanca restaurant, Haverhill Beef, Kona Ice, Hobbsies, SoulFire and Your Place and Ours.
River Ruckus was conceived during Team Haverhill’s “Possible Dreams” meeting during January, 2009, as a “dream of bringing the community together for a day of family fun along the Riverwalk and the Riverfront Cultural District, to boost the local economy and to boast about what Haverhill has to offer,” according to Team Haverhill. It has taken place every year since except for 2012.
