Harbor Place ‘Sneak Peek’ Takes Place Friday

State Rep. Brian S. Dempsey, Haverhill Mayor James J. Fiorentini, and representatives from Harbor Place, who took part in the 2014 groundbreaking ceremony, will lead Friday’s “sneak peek.”

A public “sneak peek” of a new section of downtown boardwalk, behind the ongoing Harbor Place construction project, takes place Friday afternoon.

State Rep. Brian S. Dempsey of Haverhill, House Ways and Means Committee chairman; Haverhill Mayor James J. Fiorentini; and representatives from Harbor Place developer Merrimack Street Ventures will lead a tour beginning Friday, 1 p.m., from the Basiliere Bridge, Main and Merrimack streets, according to statement Monday.

“This will be the only time the public will have full access to the boardwalk before the official opening of Harbor Place at the end of the year,” a statement said. The new boardwalk runs behind Harbor Place buildings, along Merrimack Street from the bridge to the Landmark building and beyond, to an existing boardwalk section behind Haverhill Bank.

The public is invited. Merrimack Street Ventures is a consortium including the Boston Archdiocese’s Planning Office for Urban Affairs and Greater Haverhill Foundation.

“Haverhill is on the move as a gateway city taking full advantage of its distinctive assets, including educational and cultural institutions, and, historic buildings for economic growth. Harbor Place is one of the largest projects launched in the Merrimack Valley in decades and is a transformative investment for Haverhill,” the statement added.
