Robert C. Sturtevant, 73, Worked at Haverhill National Bank

Robert C. Sturtevant, 73, passed away Sept. 12, at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. He was the husband of Hazel L. (Hensley) Sturtevant.

Born in Haverhill March 24, 1943, he was the son of the late Irving C. and Evelyn D. (Finnegan) Sturtevant. He graduated from Haverhill High School, class of 1961. Shortly after graduation he joined the U.S. Army and served a tour in Vietnam before his discharge in 1961 with the rank SP-5. It was during his time in the military that he met his wife. Sturtevant worked 14 years at former Haverhill National Bank where he was vice-president of account and data processing, and during this time he attended Northern Essex Community College evenings. After leaving the bank in 1978, he established his own small business of home improvements to include painting and carpentry. He and his wife split their time between their home in Haverhill, a small retirement community in Port Richey, Fla., and summer weekends at a Maine campground.

Besides his wife of 52 years, heis survived by his daughter Deborah Sturtevant of Tampa, Fla.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, 11a.m., at Elmwood Cemetery in Bradford. Arrangements under the direction of Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill.
