Plaistow and Sandown Join State in Supporting Sununu, Van Ostern

New Hampshire state primary voters in Plaistow and Sandown were in line with voters across the Granite state Tuesday when it came to backing Democrat and Republican candidates moving on to the November general election.

Voters in both towns picked Republican Chris Sununu over closest statewide challenger Frank Edelblut in the GOP nomination for the governor’s race in November. Democrat gubernatorial candidate Colin Van Ostern also took Plaistow and Sandown as he advances to the November election for New Hampshire governor. Voters for both parties selected from fields of five primary candidates for governor.

Also, Republicans in Plaistow and Sandown put incumbent U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte at the top in a field of five primary candidates. Current Gov. Maggie Hassan was unopposed in the Democratic primary for the senate seat. Town Republicans also picked former Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta to go on to the November race for the House seat held by incumbent Democrat Carol Shea-Porter. She, like Hassan, was unopposed in that party primary Tuesday.
