Unusual ‘Rubbish to Runway’ Fashion Show Focus of Open Mike

The Sixth Annual Rubbish to Runway fashion show, featuring everyday throwaways refashioned into garments, was one of the topics reviewed Monday night on WHAV’s Open Mike Show.

Elizabeth Rose and Alexander Sinclair, board members of Long Way Home, and Jill Regensburg, of Haverhill resident, a six-time designer for the event, discussed the upcoming show. It features Newburyport Mayor Donna Holaday as master of ceremonies and takes place from Saturday, Oct. 8, 6 to 9 p.m., at Blue Ocean Music Hall, Salisbury.

Proceeds from the fashion show benefit Long Way Home, whose mission is “to use sustainable design and materials to construct self-sufficient schools that promote education, employment and environmental stewardship” in Guatemala.

Tickets range in price from $25 to $65 if purchased in advance at outreach.lwhome.org/R2Rboston.
