‘Welcome Home Vietnam Veteran Concert’ Takes Place Sept. 17

A “Welcome Home Vietnam Veteran Concert,” featuring a number of well-known performers, takes place Saturday Sept. 17 in Lowell.

Participants include Cliff Goodwin and Mitch Chakour of the Joe Cocker Band; Hirsch Gardner, from New England band; Danny Klein of the J. Geils Band; James Montgomery Band; Paul Nelson of the Johnny Winter Band; John Cafferty and Michael “Tune” Antunes from John Cafferty& the Beaver Brown Band; Jeff Howell of Foghat; former members of Boston, Barry Goudreau and Fran Cosmo Johnny A, formerly of the Peter Wolf Band and currently of Rock and Roll Hall of Famers the Yardbirds. Proceeds from the concert benefit Veterans Assisting Veterans (VAV) and other local veteran causes.

“We want to have Lowell help to officially welcome back its Vietnam Veterans and we couldn’t think of a better way to do it” said Dennis Moschella, VAV president. “The money raised from this concert will go towards local programs to help veteran first responders with PTSD and hopefully to buy a few more TRAK Wheelchairs for combat wounded vets.”

The concert begins at 7:30, Saturday Sept. 17, at Lowell Memorial Auditorium. Tickets range in price from $30 to $125 and are available at www.lowellauditorium.com.
