Eileen (Winter) Lajoie, 89, Worked for Shoe Shops

Eileen_LajoieEileen (Winter) Lajoie, 89, of Methuen and a former longtime resident of Haverhill, died Aug. 26, at Nevins Nursing Home, Methuen.

Born in Haverhill Dec. 18, 1926, daughter of the late Murray and Edith (Cooper) Winter, she attended Haverhill Public Schools. Lajoie was employed as a bench worker for local shoe companies and had also been employed at Western Electric Company. A member of All Saints Parish, she enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting and crafts. She also enjoyed eating Italian food and camping at Forest Glen Campground in Lee, N.H.

She leaves her sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence R. and Paula Lajoie of Haverhill and and Paul J. and Carlene Lajoie of Londonderry, N.H.; five grandchildren, Lawrence R. Lajoie Jr and his wife Robin, Todd M. Lajoie, Sean P. Lajoie and his companion Sally Mellett, Jennifer M. Cook and her husband Edward and Billy-Jo Lajoie; eight great grandchildren, Ethan, Hannah, Shayla, Timothy, Tyler, Kiren, Bobbi Christine and Jamie; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert E. Lajoie in 1994, her son, Roland E. Lajoie, her daughter-in-law, Rose Lajoie, and her granddaughter, Heather.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Tuesday, Aug. 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. Her funeral begins Wednesday, 9 a.m., from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., in All Saints Church, Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Patient Activity Fund, c/o Henry C. Nevins Nursing Home, 10 Ingalls Court, Methuen, MA.
