A vigil honoring the late Christopher J. Shine and other victims of the opioid epidemic takes place Sunday, in downtown Haverhill.

Shine, 32, of Seabrook, N.H., had previously organized similar events as part of “Taking Haverhill Back,” an effort to fight heroin addiction in the city. He died last May after years of battling drug addiction.

“Chris Shine loved his city and has an impact on so many,” said Christina Mazzone of Haverhill Against Heroin.

The vigil takes place Sunday, from 1 to 6 p.m., at GAR Park, across from Haverhill Public Library. The group is calling on people to discuss how they have been affected by the epidemic and to bring photographs of their “angels.” Music will be provided by Paul Lavoie, Christian DJ. There will also be information tables and other resources for victims and families.
