Haverhill fire investigators are seeking to determine the official cause of a fire which brought minor damage to the exterior of a High Street multifamily building late Sunday night.

The fire was reported at about 11:59 p.m., outside a three story, wood-frame residential building at 57 High St., according to Haverhill Fire Chief William F. Laliberty. Laliberty told WHAV the fire appeared to have started in an outdoor area where trash was stored and it extended to the exterior of the home.

“There was an exterior fire in the area where they (residents) store their trash,” Laliberty said. “Fire retardant siding seemed to limit damage to the exterior.”

No injuries were reported. Further details were not immediately available.
