Steven E. Mencis, 46, Worked for Local Insurance Company

steven_mencisSteven E. Mencis, 46, passed away unexpectedly at his Haverhill residence Aug. 8.

Born in Haverhill, he was the son of Lester D. and Cynthia (Walmsley) Mencis of Andover. Raised and educated in Andover, he was a 1988 graduate of Phillips Andover Academy, and in 1992, received his bachelor’s in Communications from St. Lawrence University, Canton, N.Y.  While at prep school, he excelled at varsity baseball and track in addition to a full childhood playing town team sports including basketball, Little League, soccer and tennis.  He was employed as supervising agent and recruitment manager at a local insurance company and had previously been employed in stock market research. His most treasured moments were spent with his friends, his family, and especially his children.

In addition to his parents, Mencis is survived by his six children, Willow, Phoebe, Bear, Skye, Storm and Pixie; wife, Jillregin (Feeney) Mencis of Haverhill; sisters and brother-in-law, Amy Mencis of Andover, and Professor Scott and Lauren (Mencis) Miller of Woodbridge, Conn., as well as his several valued nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Roy and Gertrude (Remis) Walmsley of Peabody, and his paternal grandparents, Bert and Dora (Shack) Mencis of Haverhill.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend graveside services Friday, Aug. 12, at 1 p.m., at the Children of Israel Cemetery, 324 Middle Road, (route 110) Haverhill. Arrangements are by the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. Donations may be made in Steven’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
