Eileen P. Finnegan, 81, Worked at Mitchell’s, Western Electric

Eileen P. Finnegan, 81, lifelong Bradford resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Avita of Newburyport.

Finnegan was born in Haverhill Dec. 11, 1934, daughter of the late Timothy and Nora (Lane) Finnegan of Ireland. She attended Haverhill schools and graduated from Haverhill High School. She worked for several years at Mitchell’s Department Store until beginning her career with Western Electric, retiring after 35 years. She enjoyed her retirement, traveling extensively with her friends overseas, including Ireland, Italy and the Caribbean. She was a lifelong Parishioner of Sacred Hearts Parish, Bradford. Her activities included playing 45s and other card games, spending time and going out to restaurants with family and friends. She was an avid bowler and played in several candlepin bowling leagues and she loved the beach. Finnegan’s family thanks the staff at Avita of Newburyport. Although her stay there was short, the care and compassion she received in the final stage of her life will always be remembered. Thank you.

Her surviving family members include her sister, Kathleen (Kay) Bresnahan of Salisbury and several cousins, including some in Ireland.

Visiting hours will be Saturday morning, Aug. 13, at Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 South Main St., Bradford from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Catholic Funeral Rites will be offered graveside in St. Patrick Cemetery, North Broadway, Haverhill at 11 a.m. Contributions in her memory may be made to Avita of Newburyport, 4 Wallace Bashaw Junior Way, Newburyport, MA 01950.
