Open Mike Show Reviews Drought, City’s FM Radio Progress

“Anything Goes Night” brought listener calls on a variety of topics from whether it is legal to turn off residents’ water for violating drought restrictions to handicapped access at public buildings.

Monday night’s Open Mike Show also brought a progress report on WHAV’s FM plans and an airing of voices from the past that were critical in the city’s pioneer FM developments during the 1940s. Voices include the inventor of FM, Major Edwin H. Armstrong; the WOR engineer that conducted WHAV’s tower site survey, Jacob R. Poppele; and WHAV’s first general manager, John T. Russ.

The Open Mike Show is hosted by Tim Coco and produced by Chris Porter.
