Marlene E. (Goddard) Boucher, 81, Worked at Pentucket Shoe

Marlene E. (Goddard) Boucher, 81, passed away Aug. 1,  at her home where her husband fulfilled his promise to have her remain in her home through her final days.

Boucher was born Sept, 12, 1934, daughter of William and Mabel Goddard. She grew up in Haverhill and graduated from Haverhill High School, class of 1952. She continued her education at MacIntosh Business School. During her school years, she met her future husband George Boucher. They married on Jan. 2, 1954, and made their home in the Rosemont section of Haverhill, where they lived for the next 62 years. A large portion of her work career, nearly 30 years, was spent at the former Pentucket Shoe in downtown Haverhill. Subsequently, she worked as a criminal investigator at the IRS, obtained her Realtor’s license, worked as a clerk at Red’s Shoe Barn and served as a notary public. Boucher was Past President of the World War ll Military Auxiliary and former president of Maplewood North Parish Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband George Boucher and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her two pets, Bo and Midori, who were a great source of comfort to her during her illness. She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Dorothy Cerow.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 9 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 6, at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill, to be followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Church. Interment to follow at Maplewood North Parish Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday evening from 4 to 8.
