Helen T. Kalil, 83, of Methuen, died peacefully surrounded by her familyJuly 30.
She was born in Maynard, June 6, 1933. She graduated from Maynard High School and was a graduate of St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing. In 1956, she married the love of her life Joseph and moved to Philadelphia. Later, they moved back to Methuen, where they raised their five children.
Kalil enjoyed reading, knitting, and traveling, especially to Lake Winnipesaukee and Naples, Fla. Most of all, she loved being with her family.
She leaves her husband Dr. Joseph Kalil of Methuen, and would have celebrated 60 years of marriage Oct. 13; five children, Cathy Coco and her husband Joseph of Haverhill, Dr. Kenneth Kalil and his wife Dr. Donna Kalil of Windham, N.H., Christina Winship of Hampstead, N.H., Carol Drouin and her husband Ronald of Methuen, Kevin Kalil and his wife Christine of Kingston, N.H.; grandchildren Kelley Last and her husband Irving, Mikaela Carrozza and her husband Chris Carrozza, Laurie Coco, Michelle Kalil, Andrew Kalil, Corey Winship, Justin Winship, Matthew Winship, Alyssa Drouin, Alexandra Drouin, Ryan Kalil, and Juliana Kalil; two great-granddaughters, Adele Last and Lydia Carrozza; two sisters Mary Richardson of Randolph and Fran Berlied of Acton. She was predeceased by her sister Ann Rivanis.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours Thursday, Aug. 4, from 3 to 8 p.m., at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Her Mass of Christian burial takes place Friday, Aug. 5, 11 a.m., in St. Lucy’s Church, 254 Merrimack St., Methuen. Burial follows at Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.
