Margery G. (George) Saltzman, 89, Retired from AT&T

Margery G. (George) Saltzman, 89, of Salem, N.H., and formerly of Haverhill, passed away peacefully July 27, at Salemhaven Nursing Center.

Born in Haverhill, Aug. 3, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Delbert O. and Minnie A. (Libby) George. She worked many years as a fabricator in the local shoe industry, after which she worked 16 years as an assembler at the former AT&T before retiring in 1990. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir and assisted at the church’s famous ham & bean suppers.

One of seven children, Saltzman is survived by her daughter, Michel Saltzman of Ocala Fla.; grandchildren, Season S. Hitchcock and her husband Russell of Salem, N.H, and Michael Emery and his wife Elise of Lake City, Fla.; great grandchildren, Hannah Hitchcock, Brooke and Michala Emery; great great grandson, Liam Emery; sister, Ruth Jardine and her husband Charles of Haverhill; several nieces and nephews; former son-in-law Hollis Emery and his wife Cindy of Hampton, N.H.

A memorial service took place this morning at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill. Interment to follow at Linwood Cemetery. At the family’s request there will be no calling hours.
