Haverhill Police Arrest Four in Separate Fentanyl, Drug Dealing Cases

Four people, including two Haverhill residents, are due to be arraigned in Haverhill District Court on drug trafficking and distribution charges stemming from two separate police investigations which led to arrests Tuesday.

Matthew Balukas, 26, of Barrington, N.H., and Michelle Spurling, 27, of Rochester, N.H., were arrested by Haverhill police detectives at about 7:05 p.m., Tuesday, on Interstate 495 northbound. Balukas was charged with one count of fentanyl trafficking and conspiracy to violate drug laws. Spurling was charged with two counts each of fentanyl trafficking and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

Earlier Tuesday, at 1:15 p.m., police arrested Paula Carlson, 49 and Thomas White, 34, both of 24 Strathmore Road, Haverhill, at their home. Each was charged with distribution of a class A drug and conspiracy to violate drug laws. Carlson was additionally charged with driving on a revoked license. White was also taken into custody on an unspecified outstanding warrant.
