Serenity at Summit Receives Joint Commission Certification

Local officials and legislative leaders toured Serenity at Summit New England center last fall.

Serenity at Summit New England of Haverhill received nationally recognized certification after an on-site survey earlier this month.

Summit, 61 Brown St., provides substance abuse intensive outpatient, partial care, medical detox and residential treatment. It opened its Haverhill location last November.

“We are delighted to receive Behavioral Health Certification from the Joint Commission, the premier health care quality improvement and accrediting body in the nation,” said CEO Jim Kane. “By achieving this certification, we are operating within a framework to better meet the needs of the people we serve,” he added.

A Joint Commission evaluator reviewed the facility and staff for compliance with the organization’s standards for person-centered health care that supports recovery.

Serenity at Summit New England “demonstrated its ability to provide treatment that addresses the health needs of the whole person,” said Tracy Griffin Collander, executive director of the Behavioral Health Care Accreditation Program at The Joint Commission.

Serenity at Summit is operated by Summit Behavioral Health.
