Genevieve (Moran) Augusta, 93, of Haverhill, wife of the late Louis A. Augusta, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Wingate of Haverhill, Thursday, July 14.
Born in Newburyport, July 15, 1922, she was the daughter of the late, George and Leota (Ham) Moran. Raised in Haverhill, she attended Haverhill public schools and was a graduate of Haverhill High School. Augusta was employed a licensed practical nurse, receiving her certification from the Lawrence Technical School. She trained at the Lawrence General Hospital and would continue her employment there for the next 30 years retiring at age 72. She loved the beach and spent many summers there. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working on crossword puzzles.
She leaves her children Carolee (Augusta) Spero, Margaret (Augusta) Russo and her husband, Lenny, and Linda Augusta, all of Haverhill; grandchildren Leota Sarrette, Joseph Spero, James Spero, Gena Spero, Daniel Spero, John Spero, Rachelle Spero, Emily Russo, Jonathon Russo and Danielle Smith, all of Haverhill; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews including Tom McGovern and his wife Joanne, Benny Scovotti, Billy and Bobby Augusta; and brother in law, Gabriel Augusta, also of Haverhill. She was predeceased by her sons; Louis A. Augusta Jr, and Patrick J. Augusta. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Wingate at Haverhill for the care she received during the past year.
Funeral services are private. Arrangements are under the direction of Kevin B. Comeau funeral home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215.
