Sherri (Weinberg) Griffis, 81, Retired from Hale Hospital

Sherri (Weinberg) Griffis, 81, of Groveland, died Saturday morning, July 9, at Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill.

She was born in Haverhill, March 21, 1935, daughter of the late Abraham and Evelyn (Brown) Weinberg. Educated in the Haverhill school system, Griffis graduated from Haverhill High School and earned her associate from Chamberlain College. For more than 18 years she was employed in the Admitting and Emergency departments at the former Hale Hospital, Haverhill, from where she retired Dec. 3, 1997. She was a longtime member of Temple Emanu-El, Haverhill, the Ladies Helping Hand and a Life Member of the Hadassah.

Her survivors include her husband of 35 years, David Griffis of Groveland; three daughters, Marla Covitz and her husband Roger of Salem, Wendy Applebaum and her husband Gary of Bradford, and Judy Rossi and her husband Andrew of Methuen; brother, Jordan Weinberg of Chelmsford; six grandchildren, Max Abraham Covitz, Ashley Rossi, Andrew Rossi III, Jacquelyn Marie Rossi, Evan Applebaum and Sam Applebaum.

Funeral services were held at the convenience of the family with interment in Children of Israel Cemetery, Haverhill. Arrangements were by H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill and Bradford.
