Barbara F. Carpenter, 67, passed away last Thursday afternoon, July 7, at Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, N.H., surrounded by her immediate family members following a period of declining health.

She was born Jan. 9, 1949 in Boston. She grew up in Woburn, the daughter of the late Russell and Florence Bridgeo, and moved to the Merrimack Valley in 1977 to reside with her then fiancé, and now husband of 38 years, Wilfred N. Carpenter. She worked several years as an instrument technician at Winchester Hospital, but took several years to be a housewife and raise her three children. When the children had grown to middle and high school ages, Carpenter took employment as an assembly line worker at American Foods, Methuen, where she worked until last July.

Carpenter has been a resident of Methuen since 1985 and is survived by her husband Wil Carpenter; two daughters, Nicole of Methuen and Laura of Haverhill; son, Justin, daughter-in-law Ashley, and granddaughter Kenna, all of Salem, N.H.; mother-in-law, Mary (Carpenter) St. Laurent of Georgetown; and her family dog Dennis.

Calling hours take place Wednesday, July 13, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. A funeral mass takes place Thursday, July 14, 11 a.m., in St. Monica Parish, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen.
