Home Health Foundation, which includes Home Health VNA, Merrimack Valley Hospice and HomeCare Inc., is rolling out a fleet of new, leased cars for visiting nurses. It is using the occasion to reflect on its transportation history.

When the agency was founded in 1895, nurses walked or bicycled to patient homes. Cars were only used when nurses traveled to rural areas to care for patients. Today, on any given day, Home Health Foundation cares for more than 3,500 patients in 110 cities and towns and requires safe and reliable cars to provide quality patient care.

“Our clinical staff travels approximately 2.3 million miles per year caring for patients and families in the Merrimack Valley, northeastern Massachusetts, southern New Hampshire and Southern Maine,” said John Albert, president and CEO. “Our new leasing program is a great option for those staff who normally accrue hundreds of miles on their own car in a typical work week.  It also increases our visibility in the community.”
