Haverhill Man, 30, Seriously Injured in I-495 Rollover Accident

An unidentified 30-year-old Haverhill man was seriously injured when he was ejected from his vehicle following a rollover accident on interstate 495 Saturday morning.

State Police from the Andover barracks responded at about 10:35 a.m., Saturday, to a report of a single-vehicle rollover crash in Tewksbury. Preliminary investigation by Troopers Christopher LaVerde and Kyle Flanagan found the man was traveling on route 495 northbound, between exits 38 and 39, in a 2001 Chevrolet Impala, when he lost control of his car. It rolled over and crashed in the median.

“During the crash, the operator was ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. He was subsequently flown by medical helicopter to Beth Israel Hospital for treatment. There were no other passengers in the vehicle,” state police said.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section. Police were assisted on scene by Tewksbury Fire and EMS and Tewksbury Police.

The two left travel lanes on route 495 northbound and southbound were closed for nearly two hours for investigation and cleanup.
