The Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce is having a first-time homebuyer seminar next week to help people learn how about the various steps—from bank preapproval to closing—in purchasing a home.
Attendees will learn about the following steps during a two-hour class:
- How to get pre-approved for a mortgage
- Working with a Realtor to visit and preview properties that meet needs and desires
- Evaluating local market conditions
- How to negotiate the offer and sale
- Conducting the home inspection and renegotiating
- Reviewing a purchase and sales agreement with a real estate attorney
- Submitting mortgage application and obtaining a mortgage commitment
- General buyer closing costs
- Acquiring home insurance
- The final walkthrough of the property
- How to prepare for the closing
