The Haverhill Farmers Market returns for its 38th season Saturdays, beginning June 25.

The weekly outdoor market, which takes place next to the Haverhill police station on Bailey Boulevard, will offer fresh produce from local farmers as well as baked goods, local wines, live music and children’s activities, according to a statement from Mayor James J. Fiorentini’s office. Operating hours at the farmers market will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“Not only is this a great opportunity for residents to buy fresh fruits, vegetables and other goods, but it’s a great opportunity for local farmers to be able to sell what they work hard to produce. We are ecstatic to have the Haverhill Farmer’s Market returning for another summer and we can’t wait to see what our local farmers will be selling this year,” Fiorentini said.

The season concludes Saturday, Oct. 29. Grants from Community Action’s Stronger Families for Stronger Communities campaign and the Vela Foundation will also allow those using EBT/SNAP cards to “double their dollars” when purchasing goods at the market, the statement added.

Team Haverhill, Jeff Grassie and local farmers are credited as current organizers by the mayor’s office. The concept was first introduced more than 30 years ago by late City Councilor Marjorie E. Goudreault.
