Audrey K. (Axten) Blackadar, 84, Worked at Sears

audrey_blackadarAudrey K. (Axten) Blackadar, 84, of Newton, N.H. and formerly of Haverhill, died unexpectedly on her birthday, June 13.

She was born in Detroit, Mich., in 1932, daughter of the late Aubrey and Mildred (Strahan) Axten. Her family moved to Haverhill at a young age and she was educated in the Haverhill school system, graduating from Haverhill High School, class of 1951. She was employed as a waitress for various local restaurants and, more recently, as an interior designer at Sears. She was a member of the Quota Club of Haverhill and the Exchange Club of Plaistow, N.H.

Her survivors include three daughters, Cindy Harb and her husband Atty. Robert of Plaistow, N.H., Wendy Holland and her husband Charles of Chester, N.H., and Linda Nici of Lawrence; six grandchildren, Eugene Nici Jr., Joseph Nici, Daryl Whitty, Andrew Whitty, Christine Harb and Sarah Harb; four great grandchildren, Alexis Nici, Millicent Nici, Madison Whitty and Daryl Whitty Jr. as well as several nieces and nephews. Blackadar was the mother of the late Brenda J. Blackadar who died in 2004 and sister of the late Albert Axten, William Axten and Ivor Axten.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Wednesday, June 15, from 4 to 7 p.m., at H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Her funeral service will be Thursday morning, June 16, at 11, at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Haverhill.
