American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten says Hillary Clinton’s history making achievement of becoming the first woman to become the presumptive presidential nominee of a major political party reaffirms the promise of America.

Weingarten says Clinton’s vision and her journey stand in stark contrast to the Republican Party’s nominee. Weingarten says Clinton is a leader who breaks down barriers and lifts people up compared to an unapologetic bigot who wants to build walls and won his nomination by stoking fear and hatred.

GOP U.S. Senator Reverses Endorsement of Trump; Iowa GOP State Senator Compares Trump to The Rise of Hitler

GOP U.S. Senator Mark Kirk of Illinois is withdrawing his previous endorsement of Donald Trump. He’s the first Republican U.S. senator to do that. Meanwhile, an Iowa Republican state senator—David Johnson—has quit the GOP over Trump’s nomination. And he is comparing Trump’s campaign to the rise of Adolf Hitler.

Feds Arrest N.Y. Correction Officers Union President Norman Seabrook

The feds have arrested New York City union leader Norman Seabrook on charges he invested $20 million of his union’s money in an annuity for which he allegedly received kickbacks.

Seabrook is president of the New York City Correction Officer’s Benevolent Association.

Seabrook’s attorney, Paul L. Shechtman, told the New York Times “Norman Seabrook has spent his life fighting for correction officers. One should not expect him to stop fighting now.”

Hedge fund financier Murray Huberfeld was also arrested on federal corruption charges for his role in the alleged crime.

N.J. Gov. Christies Vetoes Raises for Union Workers at Delaware River Port Authority

New Jersey Governor and Donald Trump lover Chris Christie vetoed raises for union workers proposed by the Delaware River Port Authority.

Workers in three of the unions haven’t had raises in five years.

DRPA Chairman Ryan Boyer says Christie’s veto scuttles diligent work done in good faith to arrive at a compromise agreement for the workers.

Workers affected are members of the IBEW, Teamsters and Operating Engineers.

D.C. Mayor Says She Will Sign $15 An Hour Minimum Wage Ordinance

The minimum wage in Washington, D.C., is headed up to $15 an hour by 2020. The D.C. city council unanimously approved the $15 wage.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser says she will sign the council’s $15 minimum wage ordinance.

The $15 wage will be phased in between now and 2020 and will be tied to inflation. The current minimum in Washington is $10.50 an hour.

  1. So the two old white candidates for the dems is considered ” breaking down barriers” ? Hmmm, look at some of candidates that were on the GOP side.Black, 1, Hispanic 2, Indian 1 Woman 1, Successful businessman 1, Governors multiple. So tell me again which side is for diversity and opportunity ??
