Kid’s ArtsFest Expected to Draw up to 10,000 Saturday

The Kid’s ArtsFest takes place tomorrow in downtown Haverhill, along Washington Street, Washington Square and Merrimack Street.

Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce’s Kids ArtsFest features local musical and performing arts pieces coordinated and sponsored by the Steve Lyons Fund. There will also be appearances by Mary Poppins and the Ghostbusters, Have A Heart Animal Hospital’s Luna the Therapy Pig and the Haverhill Idol competition. Finalists in the junior and senior divisions will compete to be the next “Haverhill Idol.”

“Once again, the goal of this event is to provide a fun, hands-on art experience for the whole family! From booths with art projects that children can make and take home to a variety of tasty foods to sample and purchase, to live entertainment, music and demonstrations by local artists, and more,” the chamber said in a statement. “Further, the local creative community will work to expose attendees to more than just fine arts, but also written and spoken arts, musical arts, dramatic and theatrical arts, martial arts, culinary arts and decorative arts.”

The event takes place Saturday, June 4, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Last year, the chamber estimates, 8,000 to 10,000 people visited chamber booths and downtown retail locations and participated in family-oriented activities.
