Ella Mae (Duchemin) Jones, 79, Former Nursing Assistant

Ella Mae (Duchemin) Jones, 79, lifelong Haverhill resident, passed peacefully Tuesday night, May 24, 2016, t her home, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Ronald P. Jones and mother of the late Ronald Jr. and Scott Jones.

Born Oct. 14, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Oliver H. and Wilhelmina H. (Williams) Duchemin and was a graduate of Haverhill High School. She was a dedicated CNA, working for DNA II in Haverhill for many years, providing compassionate care to the countless patients in her charge. She was actively involved in her community, where she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary No. 4, the VFW. Auxiliary No. 29, New Rescue 8 and react, Christian Rescue No. 7, and had served as past pocahontas of the Degree of Pocahontas, the Women’s Auxiliary of the Improved Order of Red Men. Her greatest enjoyment came from sharing with her family her love of crafts and country music, gardening and collecting Barbie Dolls, a collection that was envied by many.

She leaves her children, Shirley Rutherford, Deborah Morley and husband Anthony and Christine “Tina” Jones, all of Haverhill, and Stephen Jones and companion Dawn of Amesbury; foster-child, Margaret Bacigalupo of Haverhill; eight grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremie, Jason, Joshua M. Keith, Katrina, Jacqueline and Jolene; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Driscoll and Gloria Beaupre; brother, Edgar Duchemin and wife Mary; brother-in-law, Robert Jones and wife Ann; along with several generations of nieces and nephews and many dear friends. She was also pre-decesased by two sisters, Elizabeth Palermo and Olive Pitkin; and a brother, Thomas O. “Sonny” Duchemin.

Visiting hours at the Monument Square Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family-Carnevale Funeral Home, 334 Main St., Haverhill, are Wednesday, June 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. A graveside servicetakes place Thursday, June 2, at 11 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, Haverhill.
