Haverhill Firefighters Contain Brush Fire Off Hilldale Ave.

Firefighters return equipment after extinguishing brush fire.

Haverhill firefighters Wednesday afternoon worked to contain a brush fire near railroad tracks along Little River and away from a subdivision off Hilldale Avenue.

Fire crews were seen operating from a behind a cul-de-sac at the end of Greenhill Farm Road, near Hilldale Cemetery. About two acres of land, down to the railroad tracks, were involved.

The effort was under the direction of Deputy Fire Chief Robert O’Brien. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

  1. Why is this news?
“under the direction of Deputy Fire Chief Robert O’Brien” ?
Did he create a press release in order to promote himself? Is he vying for the Chief’s position?
