Elaine M. Clough, 72, Project Manager

elaine_cloughElaine M. Clough, 72, of Kittery, Maine, passed away Thursday, Jan. 7,  in Fort Myers, Florida, surrounded by close friends.

She was born in Haverhill, daughter of the late Forest E. and Victoria A. (Macul) Clough. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and earned her master’s degree at the University of New Hampshire. Prior to her retirement, she was a project manager at Planning Systems, and Essex Corp., contracted by the U.S. Navy Submarine Maintenance Engineering, Planning and Procurement (SUBMEPP). She was lover of animals and nature and was a member of the Audubon Society and the Nature Conservancy, and served on the Kittery Board of Conservation. She enjoyed traveling and took many trips throughout Europe, and also visited Hawaii. She was an avid tennis player and spectator, having attended the U.S. Open and Wimbledon championships. She also loved kayaking and gardening. In recent years, she spent winters in Fort Myers, where she liked to explore the Gulf Coast beaches.

Her survivors include her brothers and sisters-in-law Edward and Maryanne, and Philip and Linda; nephew Adam; nieces Rebecca and husband Michael Fraser, Lauren and husband Ryan Fontaine, all of Haverhill, and Justine and fiancé Sean Sullivan of Boston; her aunt Lois Anthony of Haverhill; and her devoted friend and longtime companion Janine McCallion of Kittery, and several cousins. She was predeceased by her nephew Andrew Clough. She also leaves many dear friends and will be greatly missed.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 21, in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel of Sacred Hearts Church, 165 South. Main St., Bradford at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest at a later date in St. Patrick Cemetery, North Broadway, Haverhill. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Andrew P.
