Lena Ann (Ferullo) Conte, 84, of Haverhill, wife of Frank P. Conte, passed away Tuesday, May 10, at Wingate Nursing Home surrounded by her family.
Born in Everett, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Lena (Sameas) Ferullo. She moved to Haverhill with her family in 1945 and attended Haverhill High School, class of 1949. She was a clerk at the Haverhill Firefighters Credit Union for many years. She was lovingly known as “Meme” to her family and was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sunday dinner was very important to her and she enjoyed having all her family attending.
In addition to her husband of more than 62 years, she is survived by her daughter-in-law, Terri M. Schena of Haverhill; four grandchildren, Eric Conte and his wife Meredith, Angela Conte-Iannalfo and Dana Iannalfo, R.J. Schena and his wife Julie, and Jarod Schena and his wife Brooke; six great grandchildren, Ava, Ali, Freddie, Gabby, Piper and Cooper; three sisters, Rita Ferullo of Haverhill, Jeannie Comeau of Florida, and Ruth Merrick of Haverhill; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her dearest friend, Joanie Kennedy. She was predeceased by her son Frederick J. Conte, brother Joseph Ferullo and sister Elizabeth Vandehendem.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours Thursday, May 12, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services begin Friday morning at 9 a.m., from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Church, 110 Lincoln Ave., Haverhill. Burial follows in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, North Broadway, Haverhill. Donations may be made in her memory to Wingate Activity Fund, 190 North Avenue, Haverhill, MA 01830.
