James G. Schiavoni, 73, Worked at Raytheon 27 Years

James_ SchiavoniJames G. Schiavoni, 73, of Haverhill, passed away May 5, at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, of a cerebral hemorrhage.

Born Jan. 9, 1943 and raised in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Romeo R. and Eleanor (Norton ) Schiavoni. He was the eldest of eight children and graduated from St. James High School in Haverhill,  in 1961. He served honorably in the United States Air Force as an airman with the 55th Strategic Bomber Wing based in Kansas from 1963 to 1967. Schiavoni was employed for 27 years with Raytheon Corp. as a logistics manager for Missile Defense Systems. While he was serving in the U.S Air Force, he then met his wife, Erma M. (Rodriguez) Schiavoni. They celebrated 51 years together. He loved classic cars and playing his large pristine record collection which Elvis Presley was his favorite. He loved traveling and going on family trips to Maine regularly. He always supporting his fellow Veterans.

In addition to his wife, his surviving family members include sons, James Schiavoni Jr. of Haverhill and Matthew Schiavoni of Bradford; daughter, Trina (Schiavoni) DeBenedetto and her husband Mark of E. Hampstead, N.H.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers and two sisters; many nieces, nephews and cousins; father of the late Maria Schiavoni

Celebration of Life for Jim and his daughter Maria will be held Saturday, May 14, in  Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 South Main St, Haverhill, from 2 to 5 p.m. Services begin at 5 p.m., with United States Air Force Honors concluding.
