Merrimack Street Closures Continue For At Least Two Weeks

Construction progresses on Harbor Place at White’s Corner.

Ongoing construction-related daytime street closures for utility work at the Harbor Place project on the eastern end of Merrimack Street are scheduled to continue at least two more weeks beginning Tuesday.

The latest two-days-per-week closures to through traffic with local access to downtown businesses, are scheduled Tuesdays, May 3 and May 10, as well as Thursdays, May 5 and May 12, according to Haverhill Economic Development and Planning Director William Pillsbury Jr.

“Full access will be maintained to local businesses, the Goecke Deck, and Pentucket Bank,” Pillsbury said in a statement Monday.

As WHAV reported earlier, the temporary Merrimack Street closures and through-traffic detour onto How Street, to and from Bailey Boulevard, began in mid-March and were originally expected to occur through the month of April. The Pentucket Bank drive-thru will be accessible through the parking lot in front of the lower level parking deck entrance and exit onto the intersection of Merrimack, Main and Water streets during the closures.
